from the little nose:
top: citrus, leafy greens, pepper
middle: rose, muguet, peach, rhubarb
base: sandalwood, musk
Gwen Stefani’s Love is what I call a “fragrance mullet”: sparkling or fruity on the top; creamy in the back. It’s the winning structure of so many women’s perfumes today. Fresh citrus pops on top with light notes of pepper for a small but unexpected kick. In the middle evolves a dewy, petaly floralcy that is clean and feminine, again reminding me of Chloé and that silky, out-of-the-shower feeling. A particular combination of watery red fruit and light rose creates an impression of lychee and peony. The round, solid base notes are smooth like vanilla cream, a touch buttery, and morph to a dry-down that, combined with the petaly heart notes, feels like milky satin. ♦♦♦ Three stars.
